Aderhold law firm has set up Aderhold Luxembourg S.A., and in doing so has taken another important step towards its strategic goal of making the firm more international and expanding its Payment und FinTech practice group
Munich, Luxembourg, 13 March 2019: Aderhold Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH has had an office in Luxembourg since 27 February 2019. Aderhold Luxembourg S.A. is managed by Charles Krier, Frank Müller, LL.M. and Dr. Matthäus Schindele. Charles Krier has worked closely with Aderhold in the past as a member of the pan-European FinTech Lawyers Network, which was founded in 2016 by Frank Müller together with colleagues from France, Belgium and the Netherlands. With the establishment of Aderhold Luxembourg S.A., the Payment and FinTech practice group, which is led primarily from Munich and Berlin, enhances the banking and finance team with another highly-specialised industry expert and strengthens its role as a leading advisor to the industry, particularly in an international context.
“We are seeing a strong increase in demand for legal and regulatory expertise beyond the national level in our day-to-day work”, says Frank Müller, LL.M., partner at Aderhold law firm and co-founder of the newly established Aderhold Luxembourg S.A. “Luxembourg is an important location for many of our clients, especially since the Brexit related economic upheaval. With our office in Luxembourg, we can serve our clients’ needs better and therefore further strengthen our profile as a leading payment and FinTech law firm on a national and international level.”
Aderhold, in particular its offices in Munich and Berlin, is one of the most renowned boutique law firms in Germany in the area of banking and financial law and has grown strategically throughout the past few years. “Following the strengthening of our presence at the FinTech hub Berlin last year with Dr. Susanne Grohé and her team, the establishment of a new office in Luxembourg is a logical step towards making our advisory practice more international. We are very proud to have gained such an experienced colleague in Charles Krier, who worked for two years in the payments, innovation and governance department at the Luxembourg supervisory authority CSSF and who has also been advising on corporate law for many years” says Dr. Matthäus Schindele, partner at Aderhold and co-founder of the newly established Aderhold Luxembourg S.A.
“The Payment and FinTech practice group at Aderhold is led by a very dynamic and highly qualified team,” states Charles Krier, partner and managing director of the newly established Aderhold Luxembourg S.A. “The sometimes unconventional and therefore flexible and very effective client advisory service in the areas of payment and banking law played a key role in my decision to join the team and to contribute my expertise.“
Charles Krier, who specialises inter alia in payment law, anti-money laundering law and outsourcing, has been advising all types of financial institutions for more than ten years on all aspects of bank regulatory matters and operational activities. In addition, he has many years of experience in corporate law (mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, multi-national joint ventures). Charles Krier is a member of the FinTech Lawyers Network and the Association Luxembourgeoise des Juristes de Droit Bancaire (ALJB).
